Thought your orthodontic treatment was finished when your braces came off or you finished wearing your Invisalign trays? Think again!
Retainer wear is a very important part of your orthodontic treatment! We recommend full-time retainer wear for 2-6 months after completing the active phase of your ortho treatment (always follow the instructions of your specific doctor). After that, we say you should wear your retainers every night for as long as you want your teeth to stay straight, so if that’s the rest of your life – then retainers are forever!
When you are not wearing your retainers, they should always be stored in a case, out of reach of any curious pets or children. Never wrap your retainer in a napkin or paper towel – that is the #1 way to lose it as it can easily be thrown in the garbage!
