Brush or Floss?

Brush or Floss? Chaison Orthodontics, Everett, WABrush or Floss? Which should you do first each day? Research suggests that flossing before brushing is most optimal. Flossing first helps wipe out plaque and fortifies the teeth, making them more resistant to decay.

Does flossing make a difference during your orthodontic treatment? The answer is yes! Extra care must be taken with your flossing and brushing routine during orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic appliances don’t damage teeth but can create nooks and crannies that are a bit tricky to keep clean. These spots can accumulate food and plaque, leading to permanent white marks (decalcification), cavities, puffy gums, bad breath, and even periodontal disease.

Daily flossing is key to maintaining the health of your teeth and gums while in orthodontic treatment.
